Commonly referred to as the “jewel in Sydney’s South”, Sylvania is a waterside suburb in the Sutherland Shire located approximately 22 kilometres to the South of the Sydney CBD. The suburb bordered to the North by Kangaroo Point and the Georges River, to the East by Sylvania Waters, to the South by Miranda and Gymea, and to the West by Kareela and the Georges River and is the first suburbs in The Sutherland Shire when venturing over the famous Tom Ugly’s bridge.
Being located on the gateway of The Sutherland Shire, Sylvania has so much to offer for those lucky enough to call the suburb home with so many activities and beautiful scenery within such a short distance, and we would be silly not to mention the beautiful real estate in Sylvania including the many beautiful waterfront properties in the nearby Sylvania Waters estate.

Being a primarily residential suburb, Sylvania also has two small commercial areas located along the Princes Highway which contain a number of eating and shopping options, with the suburb also containing areas of bushland and water frontage.
With Sylvania being located in The Sutherland Shire and within a short distance to The Royal National Park, there is no shortage of activities to participate in the suburb itself or just a short trip outside its borders and there are a number of amenities that make the suburbs an attractive prospect when it comes to real estate.

With the Southgate Shopping Centre located on the Princes Highway towards the North of Sylvania, there are no shortage of shopping or entertainment options, where you can shop till you drop or indulge in some fun. Since 1957, Paul’s Hamburgers has been making the freshest, tastiest and wholesome hamburgers to cater to any taste along with its tasty thick cut hot chips. Make sure you try their delicious milkshakes as well!
Sylvania Bowling Club – Known as “the friendly club”, Sylvania Bowling Club is a hidden treasure in the middle of the suburb and operates 7 day a week. The club is the perfect place to catch up with some friends over a couple of drinks with there always being something on, whether it is the “kids eat free” each Wednesday night, Friday “Seafood and meat raffle”, Monday “trivia” nights or enjoying the bowling greens.
L’oro Di Napoli – no suburb in Australia is complete without an Italian restaurant offering, and Sylvania does not disappoint! L’oro Di Napoli located on the Princes Highway serves up a delicious selection of Italian Pizza and Pasta (and let’s not forget the dessert), and will make you feel like you’re eating in Naples without leaving Sylvania.
Looking for a quick bite and a hot coffee? There are a number of cafes in Sylvania with some notable mentions being “The Village Cafe”, “Pavement Cafe” and “Nourish Cafe & Eatery”.
